2nd gear

#1BB picked up Maryanne last night in Crownsville. I was itching to get home so we could ride to a parking lot in Towson and I could get back to learning how to drive and not fall off. Of course, the trip was speedy until we were stopped at the 895 Harbor Tunnel, where it seems they are endlessly doing construction and every time I try to pass through it, it's clogged. A 45 minute trip took almost 1.75 hours. bummer.

but we got home, suited up and went for a ride together. Being on the back of this bike is not great. Too bouncy and not very comfortable for my bony bum. It's been at least a week since my last lesson and I had forgotten the feel of getting into that first gear and letting my feet let go of the pavement. But after about 10 minutes, I was doing fine in first gear.

We spent about 2 hours last night and I got to shift into 2nd gear and worked on left and right turns. It will be at least a few more lessons before I'm ready to try any street/road driving, but I feel like I'm off to a good start.

There is this interesting feeling when you first glide fully into first gear. The bike wants to stay upright, but it seems weird--how can it do that? But then when I was going about 5 mph, you can feel how this becomes an addiction. I like the 2 wheeled ride. Probably a bit too much. In fact, I'm pretty sad that the next lesson will most likely be another week away because of works commitments this week. Damn this trying to make a living thing!!
