I visited the Maryland Motor Vehicles Administration yesterday in a gallant effort to prove my worthiness of a Class M (M as in Motorcycle) Learner's Permit. As I pondered over the last question--a multiple choice question that defied logic and then pressed "Enter" on my answer, I had that sick feeling that I'd chosen incorrectly (and sadly, it was my last question and sadly, also the last question that I needed to get correct to pass.) I was surprised to read that I had failed. Would my quest to achieve my Class M license be a fleeting dream? Would I ever know the thrill of piloting myself down the roadways astride a wonderful bike (like Ted Simon does?) I felt it all slipping quickly away as I walked to the counter and heard these delicious words:
"Don't worry, hon. Just come back t'morrow and try agin. And if you don't pass then, you kin come back next week."
"Don't worry, hon. Just come back t'morrow and try agin. And if you don't pass then, you kin come back next week."
YAY! If I manage to fail this simple (yet completely bewilderingly confusing) test again today, I only have a 7 day waiting period to try again. And I can keep taking it 'til I pass! How's that for inspiring confidence in my abilities to drive a bike? WOW!
