I'm sure i'm not alone in thinking that this is more evidence to why practicing religion and being insane are the same:
Bears Named Mohammed
Aren't there real wars to be fought against REAL injustice? People to save? Water to conserve? Alternative energies to explore? Poetry and music to write, read and sing?
All this angry energy because she was trying to get kids to do a school project??
I'm a small-minded person, so I recognize it readily in others. I would hope that religion is supposed to make you big-minded, open-hearted, understanding and accepting. Not ridiculous enough to think that this is worth executing someone over.

To quote the Dalia Lama:
The problems we face today, violent conflicts, destruction of nature, poverty, hunger, and so on, are human created problems which can be resolved through human effort, understanding, and a development of a sense of brotherhood and sisterhood. We need to cultivate a universal responsibility for one another and the planet we share. Although I have found my own Buddhist religion helpful in generating love and compassion, even for those we consider our enemies, I am convinced that everyone can develop a good heart and a sense of universal responsibility with or without religion.

Just because some insane people use religion does not mean religion causes insanity.
Or it may just be that people in general or insane.
i really really really hope that what the Dalai Lama says is true...and shows itself to be true in my lifetime. that would be incredible. but i lean more towards your last comment. i'm pretty convinced that everyone (myself included) is insane. it's seems a prerequisite to operate in the modern world.
