more driving

the drive to Nashville on Monday was horrible. 10.5 hours from Texas in driving, torrential downpour. At one point, as I was crossing the bridge into Memphis, i wondered: will the river actually be up to the level of the bridge? The rain itself wasn't so bad, but it was windy and the big rigs made that mist with their wheels. You kind of have to just plow through it. Got to Nashville, completely exhausted.

But the meetings were fun. I had an interesting and enlightening conversation with the president of an entertainment company that has some really interesting writers on their roster. we also covered the subjects of ellen cherry's Career Highlights, The Next Steps, The New Album, The War, The Lack of Good Protest Music Today, The State of the Music Industry, and Etc.

I left after a 2 hour conversation and my feeling was that if he had been bored and wasn't having a good time, it would have ended much earlier. So, you might ask, what will be the result of this meeting? I have no expectation for it, just that it's one more album in the hands of someone in the industry. And hopefully he'll listen to it and think it worthy of passing it along for further listening.

After that meeting, I saw another friend of a friend--a Nashville musician and his wife who have been involved in the road/touring side of that music business. We shot the sh** for about 2 hours as well. It was really cool.

About 5PM, i finally got on the road to drive to Charlotte, NC, where I am currently sitting. Some recording today and tomorrow and then home to B'more. can....not...wait....to.....get....home.
