rainy days and ....wait, it's not monday

i love quoting the Carpenters....even though i'm on the wrong side of the week for that. it's drizzly here in MD, but i've got the windows cracked for a little cool breeze through the house and a sleeping dog on my lap--things could be worse, i suppose. my parents were fans of the duo and so i grew up with those Innocents singing "baby baby baby oh baby" and wondering why birds suddenly appeared. but i read the news in the morning and today, the news is all bad. 30% of the world's wildlife gone since 1970. oil is getting more expensive and though i'm using less of it, it's still a big cost of my business. people can't get the aid to the people who need it most half-way across the world and i'm worried more and more that things seem to be going straight to sh**. are they? let's move onto to something less drab.

fun gig at the Riverdale Park Farmer's Market yesterday; a good start to the summer outdoor show season. I'm hoping that i can score at least a few more of those gigs this summer--people are always generous with little bits of cash, and they add up nicely to help with the gas bill getting down there (although my car is now getting about 38mpg and i'm really happy with that since i couldn't afford a Hybrid.) also, thanks to Jim, who understands how the economy works, the musicians this year got a cost of living raise and i appreciate that!

in ellen cherry news, we video'd and audio recorded last week's full band shows and there will be a painful watching of both next week, where we analyze (that word looks weird, did i spell it correctly??) movements, sounds, what we were wearing, intonation--everything. i expect it to be very educational......and extremely painful.
