bachelorette

so, a new friend emailed me a few days ago and said that a friend of his (yeah, right) signed him up for the next filming of a reality show called The Bachelorette. I know the premise of it, even if i haven't watched it....but it appears, since i am judging without having seen any actual episodes, that producers pick up a bunch of stereotypical dudes and then put them in a house together and they work out alot and try to make out with and woo a hot girl. this friend asked if i would help him make a 5 minute video to send to the producers. of course, i said yes immediately.

so last night, i produced my first work on video that will be viewed by producers at ABC. awesome!! and i even inserted myself into the works by playing guitar while he showed off his b-ball skills. fun.

i walked said friend out to his car after we burned the video to DVD. said goodbye and i was on my porch when my teenage neighbor ran up to me, out of breath: "i just got robbed!" i grabbed the phone and we called 911. he was robbed, at gunpoint, about a block down, in the middle of our almost suburban street (we're about .5 miles inside the city limits). on a positive note, the Baltimore City PD responded really fast to the call, with a copter and a car. (on a side note, the young police officer they sent had such a huge wad of chew in his cheek when he was interviewing my neighbor that i could barely understand him. i was impressed that he was able to talk with that load.) sadly, i don't think anything will come of it except that my neighbor will have to walk home from his job with less confidence. even as i type it this morning, i can't believe that someone robbed this kid at gunpoint. my mind races over the scenarios. he could have been shot, for what? they took his shoes and $.75 and his cell phone. that was all he had on him. but the got his keys and his I.D. too. they could come back.

it's sunny and nice out today, probably a breezy 75, i would guess. it seems strange how dark and scary the night was last night and that it passes and this is the morning. confusing.
