watched "Baraka" on Sunday morning--very cool. Halfway through it, i thought: "i'm going to buy this and send it to my nephew and nieces, i think they'll like seeing how strange the big wide world is." then they showed a body that was finishing burning on a funeral pyre in India and i thought: "better wait until they are a bit older for this one if i want to maintain a relationship with my family." but i liked it. same guy did Koyanasquaati (spelling? too lazy to look up.) no words, just music and incredible visuals. felt grateful (again) to have eyes.
enjoyed the Buddy Holly show with JP on Saturday and today is officially the 50th anniversary of the plane crash. i try to be grateful for the things that life brings us, and not dwell on what it takes away--right? so i'm glad that he was so prolific in his young life--i feel lucky to hear this music and still find that i like it.
i'm working on a composition piece about a circus train wreck and that's my
F(ebruary) A(lbum) W(riting) M(onth) project. wish me luck.
i'm also working on something for the next 2 days, out in the cold, that i hope to be able to tell you about in April/May. stay tuned..... (that's a clue!!)

This is the first time I'm writing on one of these. Putch- congrats on Balto gig! When are you coming in April? Asheville? We need to do Martin Luther King again for Obama! FAWM registered and Max and I are working on an awesome song. No cheese. Much. AmAnSet is playing SXSW. I asked Lee how many members and he said six. I said wow that's huge, like James or Polyphonic Spree! Deep cut. Telefon Tel Aviv- one of the guys died after their newest album. They are incred. Call Marley Carroll! MySpace or Facebook? I feel weird doing either, but I've been told it's the best way to network and KIT. I just learned how to text for crying out loud. Ikea party Charlotte! Hi Shawn!
love,
Kuya Josh
Baraka is great--but it's not the same guy who did the Qatsi movies. Godfrey Reggio did those, with Philip Glass scoring. They rock too.
