here i sit, in my studio, wondering if i should be contributing to the morass of reading that is the internet, but i'm starting a project, and so the intention of this blog/diary is to chronicle the project.
here's the project: i am an independent, self-employed, working musician based out of Baltimore, MD. solo, i play your basic garden variety singer-songwriter, let's-talk-about-our-feelings (about the end of the world) type of music. with other people, i play 80s music, roots rock, power pop, rock, and anything else i can get my ears around. i have started recording myself and producing my own music in my own studio, but have decided that this much self introspection can be damaging to my output....so i'm extending out. After producing three recorded works in the span of one year.....all pretty quiet, all pretty sleep and dreamy, i want to create a pop/rock album or work. something i can play electric guitar on. something i can jump around while playing (well, more than i already do.) but for this, i need help...so i've enlisted the help of some other musicians that i know, love and trust to help me make this project good.
i guess the point is: i want to see where 2 indie studios, a couple of pop-minded people and some great musicians can get without the support of major or minor labels...just by using their own knowledge base and experience. i realize that this is not anywhere near a novel idea, but hell, it's the first time i've tried it....so here goes.
