i think there's a strong connection between comic books and songwriters. and poets and (bear with me, i'm high on OTC cold meds....) when i was in college, listening to Tori Amos and reading Deadpool, i found out that Tori and Neil Gaiman were friends (and she even mentions him in my favorite track from Little Earthquakes, Tear in Your Hand.) So i started reading Gaiman stuff and when I was in Mexico last year, just happened to pick up a random book in the hotel's shared library, Good Omens. (It was a lark, and I didn't think too deeply on it, knowing that it was all going to be neatly tied up at the end, but still--a good beach read.)
so i'm enjoying my little "i'm sick" pity party and there's a sound at the front door. The USPS has delivered an unexpected package from a comic book author named John I met in Chicago while I was on tour this summer. He had sent me 2 Gaiman books I haven't read yet. Just a surprise belated holiday gift that came at the perfect time. Thanks John!!

I have to put it out there again and again because it's so completely true: I'm amazed at the people I've met along this journey. The people who get what I'm doing, want to be a part of it and share their talents with me, with you, with the world. I feel so lucky. I'm not religious, but I do feel, in a way, "blessed" by this energy. And the people who think about me and randomly send me emails or letters or stuff. I'm grateful for it. It is amazing. And I thank you for thinking so much of me that you take the time and effort to send things or even send a nice comment. You keep me going. thank you!
