once

i just landed in texas in time to sit at dinner with my parents. then an hour later, we were watching the dreaded Oscars.....but then something completly brilliant happened. Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova won the Oscar for Best Song for their song "Falling Slowly" from their (it just keeps going) movie, Once.

I jumped out of my seat and screamed. My parents and I were so excited. I felt as though I had won the award. It was amazing. I was so proud.

THEN, Jon Stewart graciously invited Marketa back out to give her acceptance speech and she said the most amazing things. She spoke with confidence and encouraged indie musicians to keep going and to have determination. I felt as though she were talking to me and she was radiant and beautiful. it was so very very cool.

I'm toast from the drive and from the conference and the weekend and the buzz of everything that is going on.
