i gotta soul

tonight was my last night at Folk Alliance 2008. I played what felt like a kick ass show during my showcase and I had a full room of listening people who sang along with me and picked up promos as they left. I'm hoping my energy and enthusiasm and performance has paid off. It's been a long f****ing few days and i'm completely exhausted.
perfect for jumping in the car and driving 8 hours to Texas tomorrow. i need a break from all the people. the drive will actually feel good. the conference was great in alot of ways and i feel i connected with people and have come even closer to forming a plan for myself and my music....but....there's alot of people there and i found it completely overwhelming.
i befriended a cool dude name Ryan who owns a record label in Hattiesburg. rather than hang out at the Marriott for the rest of the night after my showcases, we went to the Hi Tone club near where he lives. Drank some PBR and listening to the Dynamites from Nashville. I didn't even know how much I could like soul music. I think i might be a little hooked.
more posts will be up on Tuesday after i've gotten some sleep. see you then.
