It was cold in DC yesterday, but the energy was HIGH. It was a-freakin'-mazing. So many people there. The last time I was in a crowd like this, it was the March for Women's Lives in 2004, which was also an amazing experience, but this was different. There was less anger and more hope yesterday. Even though lines were crazy insane at the checkpoints on the north side of the Mall, everyone was courteous and cool about it.
Sadly, we didn't make it onto the Mall (as you can see in the pic). It's my own fault really--just can't seem to get out of bed early enough, but we were able to see the parade route and watched the inauguration with others who didn't make it through the lines. I'll know better for 2012. Wait, do they do a re-inauguration when the incumbent keeps the post? i don't even know!! But i hope so. That time, i'll make sure to get my info straight and make it to the right place ON time.
Still, I'm not disappointed. It was amazing to see all the people and chat with others on the Metro. I loved watching people talk about how great they thought it was.
SWEET! My neighbors are yelling at each other again. Time to crank the Stravinsky.

They never opened Northern access to the Mall--at the last minute they changed it to South access only, and sent a text message 'alert' to subscribers.
Fortunately Pat got it on her phone.
